Check out additional resources related to the American Revolution. The Revolution Timeline from PBS summarizes significant events related to the build up and conclusion of the war between the colonies and England. The Liberty Newspapers link from PBS provides descriptions of major events before, during, and after the Revolutionary War. The descriptions are complete with primary source images, along with descriptions, and presented in an interesting newspaper format. The Battle of Cowpens link from the National Park Service recounts the events leading up to, during, and after the Battle of Cowpens. While not completely factual, the movie, The Patriot, does offer similarities to actual people and events associated with the Battle of Cowpens. Does Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson) portrait a combination of Daniel Morgan and William Washington? Is the evil Colonel Tavington (Jason Isaacs) a reflection of Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton? Read the real accounts provided by the NPS and decide. |
