Description
Students will engage in an analysis of multiple primary sources relating to American involvement in foriegn conflicts. Inititial discussions will focus on US National Interests and Foreign Policy Goals. By identifying our Foreign Policy Goals, students will understand the reasoning behind US involvement in foreign conflicts. Follow up lessons will examine the means by which we enforce our foreign policy goals, ultimately relying on force or military action (due to the nature of this unit). Students will examine primary sources from multiple wars such as the War with Mexico, the Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Gulf War, and Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Maps, still images, government letters, video footage, and music are just a few of the sources students will analyze. Essential Questions
