Students will examine the lives and customs of the Ancient Greeks. Lessons will discuss the influence Ancient Greeks continue to have on American government. Students will also examine the methods and tactices of ancient warfare by reenacting the phalanx battle movements.

The Glory That Was Greece website (written by Robert A. Guisepi) is a detailed account of various aspects of ancient Greek life and culture. Historical topics include: art and architecture, wars, religion, politics, influential people, and its beginnings. Click on the "Gods & Goddesses" button to explore many of the Greek Gods and Goddesses. This British Museum website provides detailed information on the most common gods worshipped in Ancient Greece. Information includes stories of the god, symbols, places, and festivals dedicated to the various gods. There's also an interactive "challenge" game that requires you to match specific symbols with the correct god or goddess. |
